A 21 year old UC student, Wenbin Shi, 21, has been charged with three counts each of rape, kidnapping, and aggravated burglary.  The alleged incident occurred in Columbus.  An Ohio State student says that Shi repeatedly held her against her will and sexually assaulted her.

According to media reports, the victim said that she was dating Shi at one time but ended the relationship.  She indicated that Shi came to Columbus three weekends in January, held her against her will and assaulted her at a residence.

The Police found Shi at the residence on January 25 when they were called to the scene. A Franklin County grand jury indicted Shi on February 4 and he was arrested by Cincinnati police on February 6. He remains in custody.

Individuals accused of a sex crime such as date rape, rape or sexual assault, should contact a defense attorney as soon as possible.  An experienced defense attorney knows how to develop and present the facts that will be essential to establishing a defense.  The attorney can go to work immediately to determine the extent of a person’s exposure to punishment and concentrate on reducing or eliminating the most serious charges through early engagement with the prosecution.
